    Postdoctoral Researcher

    Job Title: Postdoctoral Researcher - Respiratory Microbiome Analysis

    Location: Barcelona

    About Us:

    Our research group “Applied research in respiratory infectious diseases and critically ill patients, www.idibapsrespiratoryresearch.org , within IDIBAPS as a leading research institution, is dedicated to advancing knowledge in the field of respiratory microbiome and its implications for respiratory diseases. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our dynamic research team.

    Position Overview:

    As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will play a pivotal role in our ongoing research projects focused on respiratory microbiome analysis. You will be responsible for conducting microbiome analyses, with a strong emphasis on bioinformatics and bioanalytic tools including Artificial Intelligence. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Perform high-throughput sequencing data analysis, including 16S rRNA gene sequencing, metagenomics, and metatranscriptomics with MinIon device from Oxford nanopore.

    Utilize advanced bioinformatics tools and software to analyze complex microbiome datasets.

    Collaborate with researchers to design experiments, collect samples, and generate sequencing data.

    Interpret and visualize results, and effectively communicate findings to the research team.

    Stay current with the latest advancements in microbiome analysis techniques and bioinformatics tools.

    Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences.

    Qualifications:

    Ph.D. in Microbiology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field.

    Strong background in microbiome research with a focus on respiratory microbiome.

    Proficiency in bioinformatics, including experience with tools such as QIIME, mothur, R, Python, and other relevant software.

    Experience in analyzing high-throughput sequencing data, including 16S rRNA gene sequencing, metagenomics, or metatranscriptomics.

    Experience in using  MinIon device from Oxford Nanopore for sequencing

    Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

    Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
