One year has passed since the start of 2 research projects on COVID-19
One year has passed since the start of 2 research projects on COVID-19 funded by the Government of Catalonia and the Carlos III Institute of Health of the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
The BIOCAT project entitled "Identification of epitopes and isolation of IgG anti-COVID-19 to produce monoclonal antibodies for treatment" led by Prof. Antoni Torres & Dr. Laia Fernández-Barat and the project entitled “Risk factors, personalized prognosis and follow-up to one year of patients admitted to the Spanish Intensive Care Units infected with the COVID19 virus: CIBERESUCICOVID” led by Prof Antoni Torres. The two projects are successfully progressed, the first undergoing the synthesis of monoclonal antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 previously validated with serum from >500 convalescent patients. The second, with near reacing the expected sample size of 5000 severe COVID patients included from 69 spanish hospitals, is currently generating high quality data useful to adequately manage this patients and understand their sequels.
