European Researchers’ Night
European Researchers’ Night is a Europe-wide public event held annually, typically in late September, with the aim of bringing research and researchers closer to society.
Supported by the European Union through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), this initiative is part of a broader science communication and outreach strategy designed to share research results with non-academic audiences.
In Catalonia, a wide range of activities are organised in different cities and venues to celebrate the event. Among them, CosmoCaixa Barcelona hosted one of the many initiatives and the Associació Catalana de Comunicació Científica (ACCC) coordinated other initiatives.
As part of this programmes, Dr Laia Fernández-Barat presented the Homi-Lung European Project through an engaging video. Our group is deeply involved in this project coordinated from the University of Nantes and leads its Dissemination activities.
In addition, Dr Viviane de Cassia, an MSCA fellow, took part in a storytelling session exploring the topic of antibiotic resistance. Her storytelling presentation offered an imaginative introduction to the fascinating world of bacteriophages: "Imagine a virus that doesn’t make us sick but can save lives by hunting something far more dangerous than itself. This is the story of bacteriophages – viruses that specifically infect and kill bacteria. It is a secret war, hidden from our eyes, between bacteria and their clever enemy!".
