It is our privilege and great pleasure to invite you to the 27th edition of INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON INFECTIONS IN THE CRITICALLY ILL PATIENT. This two-day symposium will provide a unique opportunity for healthcare professionals, researchers, and experts in the field to come together and discuss the latest developments and trends in sepsis, pneumonia and other severe infections. The event will also provide an opportunity to network with fellow professionals and exchange ideas and experiences. The symposium will feature a range of informative presentations from international leading experts in the field, covering topics such as: phenotypes, endotypes and heterogeneous treatment effects in sepsis, improvement of process-of-care in severe infections, managing organ failure and septic shock, treatment of difficult-to-treat microorganisms, new microbiological diagnostic tools, community and nosocomial pneumonia: treatment guidelines, including subpopulations of patients and specific microorganisms. And of course, paying attention for those not able to join physically, we are providing an hybrid format to make our contents more accessible around the globe. The Congress venue is located in the Barcelona center with easy access to the airport and fast-train station. Barcelona is a truly exciting city that has numerous facets to explore and enjoy. We are very pleased, after a successful first course, to announce the next Masterclass in Respiratory infectious diseases, which will be held in Barcelona, Spain. The concept of the Masterclass is to discuss in small groups clinical presentations, diagnostic methods, treatments and new research developments in pulmonary infectious diseases. The participants of the course will have an active role in the course by presenting case studies or recently published major articles. Professor Antoni Torres, head of the department of Respiratory and Critical Care in Hospital Clinic in Barcelona, will chair the course. Hospital Clinic is a centre of excellence in pulmonary infectious diseases. Professor Antoni Torres has dedicated all his carrear to the study of pulmonary infectious diseases.  From the 9th to the 20th of July, 15 medical students from the University of Monterrey (Mexico) will attend to a summer course organized by the University of Barcelona in which several members of our team are involved. The summer course is coordinated by Dr. Alfons Lopez Soto from Hospital Clinic. In particular, the programm on Pneumology is coordinated by Dr. Antoni Torres, Dr. Ramon Marrades and Dr. Laia Fernandez with the support of Elisabet Sancho.
