Dr. Antoni Torres, awarded for research excellence " ICREA Acadèmia " 2013
Dr. Antoni Torres , member of Pneumology Service, Clinic Chest Institute (ICT ), and professor at the UB , was recently honored by the ICREA Acadèmia 2013 Program for excellence in research in the area "Life & Medical Sciences" . Together with Dr. Torres, 148 more from diverse scientific centers , of which 118 men and 30 women, have received the award in this sixth edition.
ICREA Acadèmia is a program to support research exclusively for active teachers of public universities. The ICREA recognition involves a priority dedication to research for five years and provides the winner with an annual allowance to be preferentially allocated to research activities.Dr. Torres is Professor of Medicine at the UB and Head of the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit Clinic . He is considered a physician of reference nationally and internationally in the field of pulmonary infections, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD ), bronchiectasis, immunocompromised patients, mechanical ventilation and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS - ALI ) . He leads the group for Applied Research (translational ) in Respiratory at IDIBAPS. He also coordinates a CIBER group in respiratory diseases ( CIBERES ) and participates in several European research projects . He is co -author of over 300 scientific publications and has directed 24 doctoral theses. His Hirsch index is 71.Related links
