Prof. Antoni Torres Martí group leader of IAMR research group among the first 20 Spanish scientist according to their Google Scholar Citations public profiles
He achieved the position 18 of the first 5000 highly cited scientist in the twelfth edition of the Ranking of Spanish researchers and researchers working in Spanish Institutions (Spain)
After a whole career dedicated to clinical and translational research Prof. Antoni Torres is arguably one of the most important and most prolific investigators in the field of adult respiratory infections and critically ill patients. He has contributed seminal publications of high impact in the fields of community acquired and nosocomial pneumonia, producing both clinical and basic research.
He has also contributed to the management of pneumonia, by being either a member or chairperson of international committees of the American Thoracic Society, American College of Chest Physicians, European Respiratory Society and a number of international infectious disease societies that have been responsible for writing pneumonia guidelines.
As group leader he has trained fellows from Catalonia and other parts of Spain who have brought their knowledge and success to their own hospitals. In addition, fellows from around the world have come to work with Prof. Antoni Torres and have contributed to the collection of knowledge, from his base in Barcelona. He has also organized national and international research collaborative that have further advanced his research goals.
Prof. Antoni Torres' contributions have been recognized by numerous awards and leadership positions in national and international societies. His impact and successful trajectory is the result of an intelligent and persistent effort to improve clinical management of respiratory infections and critically ill patients by fostering translational research.
