Success in the FIS 2008 Call for Grant Applications With 5 new Projects Financed
Our research team in respiratory medicine has obtained a resounding success in the latest call for grant applications of the Health Care Research Fund (FIS)
Our research team in respiratory medicine has obtained a resounding success in the latest call for grant applications of the Health Care Research Fund (FIS). With 5 new financed projects, this research group ensures the continuity of some of the main lines of research it is developing. One of them is a wide-ranging multi-center project.
The new projects financed are the following:
- Health Care Associated Pneumonia: Microbial Etiology, Risk Factors and Outcome (Multi-Center Project; Principal Researcher, Dr. Antoni Torres). This project, led from IDIBAPS - Clínic - CIBERes, also involves the participation of Hospital Clínico Universitario, València, Hospital Joan XXIII, Tarragona, Hospital La Fe, València, Hospital de Valme, Seville and the Maresme Health Care Consortium.
- Role of the Inflammatory Response and Systemic Oxidative Stress in Weaning From Invasive Mechanical Ventilation (Principal Researcher, Dr. Miquel Ferrer).
- Failure of Treatment in Community-Acquired Pneumonia. Risk Factors of Excessive Inflammation and its Impact on Outcome (Coordinated; Principal Researcher, Cristina Esquinas).
- Expression and Quantification of microRNA in Peripheral Blood, Tumor Tissue and Normal Tissue in Patients With Lung Cancer: Therapeutic Relations and Outcome (Principal Researcher, Dr. Ramon Marrades).
- Utility of Antibiotic Treatment in Exacerbations of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Without Sputum Purulence: A Randomized, Double-Blind Controlled Clinical Trial on Efficacy and Safety (Principal Researcher, Dr. Néstor Soler).
Hospital Clínic, Barcelona has received more than 50 FIS projects in this call for applications. Our group has contributed to this impressive number with 5 projects that, over the coming years, will result in advances that can be applied to clinical practice.
