A Study by our Group Among the Top 5% of Most Highly Rated Abstracts at the Latest ERS Congress
One of the most notable abstracts, signed by Dr. Hugo Loureiro and Dr. Jacob Sellarés, among others, was in the top 5% of the abstracts most highly rated by the attendees
The latest annual conference of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) took place in Berlin between 4 and 8 October. As is becoming usual, our team had the chance to present at the conference some of the latest results they have obtained. One of the most notable abstracts, signed by Dr. Hugo Loureiro and Dr. Jacob Sellarés, among others, was in the top 5% of the abstracts most highly rated by the attendees. More than 3000 abstracts were presented at this highly prestigious international meeting.
The study, Characteristics of Ventilated Patients According to the Difficulty of the Weaning Process , is the first descriptive study to differentiate the population characteristics and outcomes related to prolonging the process of weaning from mechanical ventilation. The study was carried out on 184 patients over a period of 10 years. The results indicate that prolonging the weaning process is associated with longer stays in hospital and a higher mortality rate.
