The 26th ESICM Annual Congress LIVES 2013 is running in Paris, France, from Saturday 5 October until Wednesday 9 October
The European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) supports and promotes the advancement of knowledge in intensive care medicine. Its 26th Annual Congress LIVES 2013 is running in Paris, France, from Saturday 5 October until Wednesday 9 October. This Congress is one of the major intensive care meetings of the year. Today, the last day of the event, Dr. Gianluigi Li Bassi will receive the prestigious Young Investigator Award.
Dr. Gianluigi Li Bassi is the coordinator of the Animal Experimentation Division within the IDIBAPS team led by Prof. Antoni Torres. His research focuses on finding new strategies to reduce the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia. The project that will be developed with the support of the award is entitled "Comparison of the effects of recruitment maneuvers on mucus movement in a pig model of early severe pneumococcal pneumonia”.
The ESICM Congress features parallel sessions including over 500 lectures, presentations, debates, round table discussions, tutorials and interactive educational sessions. Invited speakers are all well-known international experts in their field, making it a big honour for a researcher and the team he represents to receive an award in this context.
The ESICM Young Investigator Award supports the development of research activities undertaken with the active contribution of the applicant. The specific intent is to provide support for young and talented physicians/scientists that have the potential to become outstanding independent investigators in the field of intensive care and emergency medicine.
