  • To provide a “pure” animal model of pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilation due to Pseudomonas aeruginosa and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus
  • To study the efficacy of new antibiotics and their pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) relationships to the aforementioned microorganisms
  • To study nonantibiotic therapies in pneumonia
  • To study ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP)
